Evolution of Programming Languages
Bachelor course, taught since 2024–2025.
Instructor: Coen De Roover
Traces the history of programming languages from FORTRAN and LISP through ALGOL, Smalltalk, Prolog, ML, Scheme, and Erlang, examining the ideas and people behind each. Students use this historical lens to critically analyse and discuss a modern programming language of their choice.
